Castletroid: The Literal Metroidvania

Submission for Metroidvania Month 22.
When Samson Armont's brother Tristam is slain by the notorious Draculoid warlord Utar Efson, he takes up his brother's spare armor and plasma whip and flies to Utar's space station, Castletroid, to seek his revenge.
Castletroid: The Literal Metroidvania is an homage to, and synthesis of, the games that defined the genre. Fight space vampires and skeletal androids in a high-tech suit of medieval armor, through winding tunnels and lofty towers.
CONTROLS:
A+D: Move left and right
W+S: Aim up and down
Space: Jump
Shift: Use weapon
R: Switch weapon (once unlocked)
G: Throw grenade (once unlocked)

Oh man, this looks like fun, but I'm unable to play it. After Utar spoke (in the same scene shown in this game's screenshot) and the message box closed, I couldn't move anymore. I couldn't get any buttons to work. Clicking on the screen to recapture focus in case I'd lost it didn't help, either. Please help!
Hey, nice to hear from you! :D this is one of the most frustrating bugs we're working on squashing for the next build; you can sometimes get stuck, but if you do, pressing Shift to attack usually breaks you out!
Thanks, I'll try that next time I play. And if that doesn't work, I'll simply wait patiently for the next build. :)
